WELCOME TO RUSTIC ROOTS FARM
Established in 2013, Rustic Roots Farm is a small-scale farm in Farmington, Maine producing mixed vegetables. Our FARM SHARE membership serves local people who want fresh, healthy, farm grown produce each season. Our FARM SHARE members are our top priority and our members receive our widest variety of offerings and share in our abundance throughout the season. We also offer our produce to the community at the Farmington Farmers’ Market and can be found in downtown Farmington on Saturdays during the growing season.
We are committed to growing food that is delicious, nourishing and sustainably-grown. Here are some details about our growing practices:
We start our seeds in certified organic soil mediums.
We only use certified organic fertilizers and pesticides.
Our growing field has been free of synthetic inputs for more than 10 years.
The majority of our seeds and transplants come from certified organic sources.
MEET YOUR FARMERS
ERICA EMERY & DAVE ALLEN
Rustic Roots Farm is headed up by Erica Emery, a Farmington native and UMF grad. After working on an organic vegetable and fruit farm in the Boston area, Erica decided to get back to her rustic roots and start a farm back home. Most days you will find Erica at the farm working to get out the best tasting vegetables to our Farm Share members.
Dave is originally from Portland, Maine and made his way to the area by way of UMF (although never attended at the same time as Erica). After a salty career at the New England Aquarium, Dave moved back to the area to start the farm with Erica. Dave still works on the harvest crew and is the fixer of broken things at the farm, but most days you can find him down the road at Root Down Market.
